A trip to Montiferru, little known, far from elite tourism but full
Hotel La Baja overlooks a charming limestone cove that shelters the beach of Santa Caterina di Pittinuri, accessible directly from the hotel via a picturesque staircase.
The beach, with its coarse amber sand and dark grey pebbles, creates a striking contrast against the white cliffs and the ever-changing shades of the sea, ranging from emerald green to azure and turquoise. Its crystal-clear, shallow waters make it perfect even for young children.
Located at the heart of a stunning bay, the beach is exposed to the mistral winds, making it an ideal destination for windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts.
S’Archittu of Santa Caterina di Pittinuri takes its name from a long, naturally formed rock arch, located just a few minutes from Hotel La Baja. Always captivating, but particularly enchanting at sunset, this natural wonder has often been chosen as a film location. Among the directors who have immortalised it is Lina Wertmüller, who used it for the opening scene of the 1986 film Notte d’estate con profilo greco, occhi a mandorla e odore di basilico.
