Sardinia is an EU green zone. Here’s how to get there for the 2021 holidays.

Sardinia is a European green zone

Virus circulation is at its lowest, with number of infections less than 25 per 100,000 inhabitants and a test positivity rate of less than 4%.
Therefore, Sardinia has been included among the green zones in the EU map of the incidence of Covid in the Old Continent, drawn up by the ECDC, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.
An almost Covid-free destination for the 2021 holidays, where you can travel freely while respecting the general rules in force in Italy.
Here’s how to get to Sardinia for you 2021 holidays.

Sardinia is an EU green zone

Reaching Sardinia for your summer holidays is easy, especially if you come from one of the EU countries. Now that the regional regulations on arrivals on the island are over (registration on the
portal, covid swab test, etc.), the national regulations are in force, while waiting for the Eu digital Covid certificate or European Green Pass to come into force on July 1 st , which will be valid in all EU countries.

Arriving from Italy

The Green Pass is now officially in force, and allows you to travel and attend events and meetings as long as you are vaccinated (first dose at least 15 days before departure) or have had a covid swab within the last 48 hours. The procedure is simple and free of charge.

It can be requested through:

You need to enter your health card number and one of the unique codes received for: vaccination (both first dose and full vaccination), recovery, negative covid swab test result in the last 48 hours. The codes are sent by sms or email by the Ministry of Health to the contacts provided at the time of service.

For arrivals from abroad

On July 1 st , 2021, the Green Pass will be in force in all EU countries. Until that day, Italian law allows entry from EU and Schengen countries, as well as Great Britain and Israel, with a negative swab and no quarantine requirement, or with a green certificate from another country, depending on the country of origin.

All information on how to enter Italy is available on the government’s travel information website. Within the link you will find a questionnaire, which, by answering a few simple questions about your area of origin, will give you all the specific information country by country.

We simulated the request of a traveller coming from Germany and not having moved abroad in recent months.

  • Complete the digital localisation form, also called Digital Digital Passenger Locator Form  (dPLF). In exceptional cases, i.e., only in the event of technological impediments, it will be possible to complete the paper form.
  • Pending the issuance of guidelines on green certification, present the Covid-19 green certification, certifying the negative result of a molecular or antigenic test carried out with a swab within 48 hours prior to arrival in Italy, to whoever oversees controlling it.
  • Notify the local health authority of your presence.
  • If you have neither a green certificate nor a negative result from a molecular or antigenic test carried out by swabbing within 48 hours prior to entry into Italy, you may still enter, but you must undergo a ten (10) day quarantine period, after which you must undergo a molecular or antigenic test.

These rules apply for a few more weeks, until July 1 st , and unless otherwise announced by the government authorities.
