Music on the Bocche 2022, the unmissable music festival in 12 locations in Northern Sardinia

All the information and the program of the twenty-second edition of Isole sui Bocche, from 3 to 30 August 2022 in 12 splendid locations in northern Sardinia

A festival born with a precise artistic and social connotation

Music on the Bocche was born from the tenacious will of Enzo Favata and municipal administrations who wanted to invest in a project that, now in its twenty-second edition, is today one of the main summer music festivals in Sardinia.
If from the outset this review has stood out for the particular artistic figure of the invited artists, over the years it has evolved into an authentically international festival, but with particular attention to author and Sardinian music.

In fact, in the words of its founder, Enzo Favata from Alghero, Musica sulle Bocche aims to create a format that knows how to combine music, nature, culture and tourism. In the 2022 edition, starting from La Maddalena to end in the splendid town of Castelsardo, many other places not known to the general public but no less suggestive will be touched.
Particular attention is given to small towns in the interior, far from the tourist circuits and in clear demographic decline. With this in mind, the Festival demonstrates “a commitment to communities that preserve their identity and fight not to be abandoned“.

And with the aim of creating beauty and helping to combat the depopulation of small towns, the International Jazz Festival Musica sui Bocche has proved to be a formidable phenomenon of tourism and cultural promotion for this area of Sardinia.

Another characterizing element of this event were the performances at sunrise and sunset, often in locations of great naturalistic value. This is to maximize the experiential dimension of the event which is not limited to the simple enjoyment of music, but which becomes an “experience” thanks to the union with nature and the particular atmosphere of the places, which enhances and amplifies the artist’s performance.

Concrete attention to sustainability. Jazz Takes The Green

and the landscape in which the artists’ performances take place are one, since its first edition. In fact, the characteristic natural elements of Sardinia are often the stage for the performances of the Festival, which in turn contributes to the promotion of the territory, in a virtuous circle that obviously cannot ignore respect for the environment. With these premises, the 2022 edition of Musica sui Bocche adheres to “Jazz Takes The Green”.

This initiative brings together 20 Jazz festivals in 12 Italian regions. This musical genre has always shown attention to social issues, and has approached the theme of sustainability linked to musical events in a clear and proactive way. With this in mind, Musica sui Bocche will move by trying to reduce the impact of the event’s activities on the environment as much as possible.

Particular attention is given to waste management, the use of sets made with environmentally friendly materials and above all the elimination of plastic as a container for water. Musica sui Bocche stands out in this sense with the publication of the map of the public fountains where the spectators of the festival will be able to stop for free to fill their water bottles during its events.

The richest program ever since its foundation

As highlighted in its presentation, the 2022 edition of Isole sui Bocche presents itself with the richest program of shows ever since its first edition, now 22 years ago.
As many as 12 municipalities will participate in over thirty events of the festival, testifying that the saying about Sardinians “pocos locos y mal unidos” is a false historical and that places with a strong tourist vocation such as Alghero or La Maddalena can act as a driving force for other less touristy places but no less suggestive like Ploaghe or Nulvi.
In fact, in strict alphabetical order,

Alghero
Bulzi
Castelsardo
Chiaramonti
La Maddalena
Laerru
Martis
Nulvi
Ploaghe
Porto Torres
Tergu
Valledoria

will be interested in one or more events of the event, which depending on the artist may be as intimate as the cloister of the church of S. Antonio in Ploaghe which will host Enzo Favata The Crossing, the project by the composer and saxophonist from Alghero or as large as the Piazza Comando of La Maddalena which will instead see Irene Grandi perform, one of the major interpreters of the Italian music scene.
