What does it mean and how do you become Blue Flag?

The Blue Flag is a prestigious international recognition awarded to beaches, tourist ports and tourist boats that respect a series of environmental, safety, water quality and service criteria.
A location formally recognized as a bathing area at a national (or international) level with at least one sampling point for the analysis of bathing water can be awarded the Blue Flag. The name and boundaries of the beach follow the official national ones. In each location awarded the Blue Flag a contact person must be appointed to manage issues relating to the Programme. It must also be accessible for unscheduled inspection by the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education).

Here’s how you get it:

• Water Quality:
  Bathing water must comply with the quality standards set by European directives.
  Regular sampling and analysis of water must be carried out to ensure that it is clean and free of pollution.
• Environmental Management:
  Environmental management systems for the beach, including cleaning and waste disposal programs, must be implemented.
  The presence of adequate toilets is necessary, which must be cleaned regularly and equipped with water saving and recycling measures.
• Security and Services:
  The beach must be equipped with adequate security services, including lifeguards and life-saving equipment.
  Facilitated access must be available for people with disabilities.
  The beach must have services such as showers, toilets and first aid areas.

What makes Conca Verde Beach special and such as to be chosen for the Blue Flags?

Conca Verde is located about 12 km west of Santa Teresa Gallura and is located along the coast overlooking the Maddalena Archipelago. Access to the beach is relatively easy, with well-marked roads leading easily to the beach.
