What to do in Olbia in three days. Ideas and suggestions

Find out what to do in Olbia in 3 days. A city with a wonderful sea, a thousand-year history and much more.

Will you be in Olbia for the first time and want to know more? Do you want some useful suggestions for your weekend in the city that the Greeks called Ολβιος/Olbiòs 2700 years ago, or happy city? Here you will find useful information to make the most of your short holiday, a small program of things to do in Olbia in 3 days.

Once you arrive in Olbia by ship or plane, leave your luggage at the hotel (we recommend the Hotel Felix Olbia) and… you will be spoiled for choice among the many things to see in all seasons. The city and its immediate surroundings offer many reasons to visit it all year round, even if only for a few days.

What to do in Olbia in three days: first day

If you visit our city in the summer (which we mean from mid-May to the end of September) go to one of the beaches on the north coast of the Olbia coast. We recommend the beaches of Bados, Mare Rocce and Pittulongu, the Olbia beach.
These localities are located twenty minutes or so from the city centre, have large parts of free beach (however it is possible to use services provided by bathing establishments) and free parking.

If, on the other hand, you visit Olbia in autumn or winter, you could venture out to discover its important Punic, Carthaginian and Roman remains or visit its large and modern museum for free, which houses a well-preserved Roman ship, truly worth seeing.

In the evening, if tired from a busy day, you could dine at Felix Rooftop our panoramic restaurant overlooking the city, or go to one of the many restaurants in the city center.

What to do in Olbia in three days: second day

Olbia offers a large coastal area.
If you come here in the summer, after visiting the beaches north of the city, why deny yourself a visit to the beaches on the south coast of our city? Porto Istana Li Cuncheddi and the little-known beach of Poltu Casu are the ones we recommend for a beautiful day at the beach.

Do you want to discover the area instead? In this case you cannot help but visit the beautiful village of San Pantaleo. Less than half an hour from the city center, nestled in the granite massif of Cugnana and less than half an hour’s drive from our hotels in Arzachena and Olbia, it is known as the town of artists because of its colorful and inimitable market.

In the evening you can visit the famous tourist resort of Porto Rotondo or visit the lively village of Porto San Paolo.

If, on the other hand, you are in Olbia in winter, a really interesting stop is a visit to the Riu Mulinu Nuraghe. Almost invisible from the city, although just over 20 minutes from the city centre, it bears witness to its most ancient (over 3,000 years ago) and fascinating past, the Nuragic one. Alternatively, remaining in the city, you can visit the suggestive Romanesque church of San Simplicio, patron saint of Olbia. And if you are here in mid-May, you cannot miss its “big party”, which, to paraphrase American films, is the 4th of July in Olbia.

In the evening, book one of the farmhouses located in the rural area behind the city and discover the Gallura gastronomy. The famous soup, the Chiusoni, the inevitable slow-cooked piglet on the grill will give you the right refreshment from a long day.

Cosa fare a Olbia in tre giorni: terzo giorno

If you are a fan of the sea and time allows it, we suggest an excursion to the nearby Golfo Aranci, which combines the possibility of taking advantage of a wonderful sea and spectacular trekking paths.
If, on the other hand, you come here in autumn or winter… you are spoiled for choice!

The hinterland of Olbia is full of excellent cellars, where you can taste not only Vermentino D.O.C.G but also interesting reds. We talk about it extensively in this article, where you will find all the contacts to be able to organize your tasting.

If you come here in autumn and winter, you also have the opportunity to go to one of the Cortes that take place from September to December in the villages of the Nuoro area.
If, on the other hand, you are here during the Carnival period, you cannot miss a unique experience such as the Carnival in Barbagia.

Many of these locations can be reached in an hour’s drive or so from our hotel in the center of Olbia

We really hope we have given you useful information on what to do in Olbia in three days.
A city with a world-famous sea but equally rich in history and traditions, to be visited in every season.
We are waiting for you!
